Students at Howden are celebrating another year of great results. Headteacher Mr Cannon said ‘Once again we are delighted to be celebrating some excellent GCSE and BTEC results at Howden School. It has been a pleasure to share the excitement of successes with students this morning; we are very proud of their achievements which come as the result of dedication and hard work from students and staff and the support of their families.
This year, 70% of students achieved a 9-4 GCSE grade in English and Maths. An outstanding 77% of students achieved a 9-4 grade in Science. 72% of students also achieved a 9-4 in GCSE Maths and 78% got 9-4 grades in GCSE English. In English nearly one fifth of our students achieved the top grades. We are most proud of our Disadvantaged Students who closed the gap by over half a grade over previous years.
Our 2018 GCCE results reflect the commitment and hard work shown by our students. Once again, through their positive attitude and determination, Year 11 students have achieved high standards and this year marks the school’s best progress and attainment results ever!
We are anticipating 100% of our students will go on and study a post-16 course, training or apprenticeship.
Mrs Issatt, Assistant Headteacher said ‘It was a very proud moment seeing the faces of our Year 11 students when they collected their exam results today, celebrating with them as they move on successfully to their chosen next step”. At the end of what is a very demanding period of studying, they leave us with not just their academic qualifications but also a diverse range of additional enrichment activities and experiences which has provided them with skills for life. Our staff are all delighted to be able to congratulate our students on their hard work and perseverance to get them the results with which they have been rewarded with today. We very much look forward to hearing about our students’ continued success as they move onto their chosen pathway.
