At Howden we believe all students should have the opportunity to experience a curriculum that will provide them with the understanding and involvement of a healthy, active physical life. We strive to ensure all students, regardless of their ability, achieve their full potential and are provided with a variety of opportunities that will enable them to pursue physical activity and sport in years to come.

Perhaps one of our most important tasks at present is to develop positive attitudes towards an active and healthy lifestyle. At Howden pupils will learn how to plan, perform and evaluate actions, ideas and performances to improve their quality and effectiveness. Through this process, students discover their aptitudes, abilities and preferences and make choices about how to get involved in lifelong physical activity.

It is our aim to develop every student’s physical competence and confidence, and their ability to use these qualities to perform in a range of activities we study at Howden. Opportunities are provided within school time and extra-curricular for students to be creative, competitive and challenged as individuals and in groups and teams.
