Reading and the Library

The Library, a central space in the school, highlights the value we place on reading and independent learning.

Approximately 8,000 books are housed in the Library, with further items accessible through the Library's computerised catalogue Eclipse. 

In addition to our book collection, the Library includes a dedicated suite of computers, comfortable reading spaces and the flexibility to be used by a class as a study space. All students in Year 7 and Year 8 benefit from Library-based Accelerated Reader Lessons. 

The Library was designed by the student senate, including its layout, the furniture selection, design and a large mural painted on the wall. The work was nationally recognised by the House of Commons Speakers Award for the students showing their commitment to co-construction.
