    Revision

To support students in preparing effectively for linear examinations, structured opportunities are built into the curriculum to help them develop a range of revision strategies and understand how to use them successfully.

Students are encouraged to explore different approaches, reflect on what works best for them, and build confident, independent study habits.

A dedicated Study Skills Programme explicitly teaches students how to revise, not just what to revise. This programme supports students in developing effective routines and introduces them to a range of evidence‑informed revision strategies. These include:

    • Note‑taking techniques that help students organise and prioritise key information
    • Recall and retrieval activities, enabling students to practise remembering content and identify gaps in knowledge
    • Pre‑learning and planning strategies to structure revision time effectively
    • Mind mapping to strengthen understanding of connections between ideas and topics
    • Flash cards to support spaced practice and regular review
    • Use of past examination papers to familiarise students with exam expectations, question styles and timing

Alongside this, students are supported to develop practical skills such as time management, goal‑setting and independent study, through the ACE periods, helping them approach revision in a calm and organised way.

To support some of these strategies, we have created some short tutorials:

    • Flash Cards
    • Mind Maps
    • Quizzing
    • Leitner Method
