    About Us

Howden School is a thriving 11–16 secondary school at the heart of its community, serving around 700 students across the East Riding.

As part of The Consortium Academy Trust, we are ambitious about the future – creating learning environments and excellence in teaching and learning that provide our children and young people with the best chance at a successful future.

Our work is underpinned by our core values of aspiration, courtesy and excellence. We are determined that every student is encouraged to aim high, take pride in their achievements and develop the confidence to succeed in whatever path they choose. Courtesy sits at the centre of our culture, shaping the way we speak, behave and treat one another, ensuring a calm, respectful and inclusive environment where all can thrive.

We are relentless in our pursuit of excellence, both in teaching and learning and in the wider experiences we offer. Our curriculum is ambitious and carefully designed to support strong academic outcomes while also developing character, resilience and independence. We set high standards and provide the support needed for every student to meet them.

At Howden, strong relationships are key. Our pastoral systems ensure that every student is known, supported and challenged appropriately. We balance high expectations with care and understanding, recognising that young people learn best when they feel safe, valued and understood.

We also place great importance on student voice and leadership. Through a wide range of opportunities, students are encouraged to contribute to school life, develop leadership skills and shape their own experience. We are proud of the way our students embody our values every day – demonstrating ambition, respect and a commitment to doing their very best.

At Howden School, we are committed to providing an education that not only delivers academic success, but also equips young people with the character, confidence and skills to flourish in the future.
