Geography

Geography is one of the most exciting subjects to study. We live in an interdependent world caught up in chains of events which span the globe. We depend upon an increasingly fragile physical environment, whose complex interactions require careful management. The Geography Department aims to inspire in Howden students a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We want our students to develop their knowledge of the location of globally significant places, understand the processes that give rise to key physical and human features of both the UK and wider world, and be competent in a range of geographical skills. At KS4, students may opt to study for the Edexcel GCSE Geography with its stimulating blend of traditional and contemporary content and fieldwork opportunities.
