12 - 16 July - Virtual Transition

  • To deliver the best transition experience we possibly can.
  • To communicate and share our plans in the best possible way via letters and the school web site.

We want to offer…

  1. Deliver a video assembly from the Head and Key staff – This video will be shared with all feeder primary schools on Friday the 9thof July. We have requested that this is shared by the primary school in class.
  2. We will also share a transition activity each day for 1 week as part of this virtual transition. Primary schools will receive these on the 9th of July and they will be posted on this page at the same time. Again we will request that the primary feeder schools, share these activities in school.

  1. Provide House challenges – At Howden School the House system is a fantastic way to encourage participation. All new Year 7 students should have received a digital e-card with information about their house for September.

The House values are represented by our 5 key values and there is 1 challenge linked to these values.

These house challenges can be completed at home and emailed into the relevant houses.

The House challenges will be posted on this web page on the 9th of July.

If students would like to share the work students produced we would love to see it. Please send any completed House challenges to the house email address

  1. Each student will receive a personalised pack of learning resources to prepare them for joining team Howden.

At Howden school we know students like to feel confident and to support confidence in learning we are currently putting together personalised learning packages for all our transition students. It is our hope that this work will minimise learning loss over the summer, prepare students for starting secondary school and also help students “catch up” any gaps in their learning. Again, we would love to see the work students are producing. It is our ambition to share these pack during the final week of this summer term so that all learners receive them before the Holidays begin.

Resources will go here onto the Transition page on the school website and a pack will be sent home to students.

Transition activities: Resources which go alongside videos will be sent out to schools/parents with links for the videos. Access is only via the following links.

House challenges will go onto the Transition page on the school website and emailed out to schools/parents.
